Student Center Design
The design of the new youth center will help us facilitate community. Students are tribal in nature and they like to congregate together in large numbers. The openness of all the areas will help large numbers gather together in many different ways.
The main auditorium is designed to seat around 500 students, but will also be flexible enough to have 30 small groups meeting at tables spread out in that area. It will be decked out with the things students love, basically flashing lights and the ability to rock the roof off. Also, the auditorium will be totally portable and interchangeable. The stage, lighting, audio and video are almost completely portable so the room can be use for many different activities. Another major plus of the new auditorium is the fact that we will have a portable divider in the room so that it can become 2 separate rooms and we can have 2 different events going on at the same time. From large worship times with all our students together to smaller more intimate gatherings, the new auditorium will accommodate them all.
The classrooms also have that same feature. We can divide them into 2 different 600 sq foot meeting rooms or open the wall and have one large 1200 sq foot area. This will be great for not only students but also many other ministries in our church.
The foyer and café area is going to be rocking. That area alone is larger than our current youth meeting space and will be filled with things that students love. Everything from ping pong to video games, from comfortable chairs to caffeine, this area will have it all plus some. The foyer will serve as our check in point and main gathering area before our services.
There will also be community areas outside on both of the patios. These are places for students to just find a place to sit in the shade and relax together.
Overall the design is incredible. It will serve the needs of The Point Student Ministry in amazing ways and allow us to continue to do the type of ministry God has called us to: “To lead unsaved students into a relationship of full devotion to Jesus Christ.”
